I'm not sure how I ended up in the position of taking care of other people, when all I wanted was to get through high school unnoticed.

But now that I'm here, I can't just abandon them.

I think I know a little of what that's like. That's when people like us need to ask ourselves why it's considered abandoning for us to do what we want, for once. Why are we always putting others before ourselves?
